On the night before Jan. 1, 1863, “enslaved and free African Americans gathered in churches and private homes all across the country awaiting news that the Emancipation Proclamation had taken effect,” the National Museum of African American History and Culture reports.

Baez Honored as Young 校友 Award Winner

Shelby Baez knew she wanted a career in athletic training when she was in high school. But originally, she thought she was going to contribute to Good Morning America.
As a four-sport athlete growing up in Fayetteville, N.C., (that’s basketball, 垒球, volleyball and cross country, if you’re curious) she originally thought she may be a journalist, then go to law school and be a political correspondent for GMA.
